There is a uniquely high level of confusion and seemingly changing information about cannabis and cannabis products at this time in history, especially as various States in the U.S. have legalized either "medical marijuana" and/or recreational marijuana for its adult citizens, and this despite federal laws still regarding it as an illegal, controlled substance. The substance itself has been changing over the years/decades, to where the 20% THC delivery available from many of today's cannabis products dwarfs the 2-3% THC delivery of the majority of smoked marijuana available in the 1960s. As a result of multiple involved developmental trends, research conducted at earlier times may be inaccurate or incomplete, and the honest inquirer is encouraged to look at more recent research findings before drawing final conclusions that, if inaccurate because of being under-informed, could have tragic consequences. For a more in-depth look at the impact of today's marijuana products, and some of the historical and societal factors contributing to today's confusion, those seeking comprehensive information would be encouraged to read Alex Berenson's 2019 book, Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence
